Final Picture

Artist Statement

Falling backwards and hoping that someone will catch you is what I call trust. When you are at your lowest and want someone to be there to help you get back up. When you fully trust someone, you tell them your secrets and hope that they keep them to themselves, and honor your decision.

I took a picture of someone free falling. They have just given away their secrets and are in this in-between place of not knowing if it was a good or bad decision. The colors get gradually darker, so the audience can tell they are close to hitting rock bottom, and the stroke marks of lighter colors are to show they are falling through clouds, like they started at a really high point.

If I could retake this photo, I would have taken it at an angle, instead of straight on, to help the audience better understand that it is the sky. Also, I would have had the girl’s hair flying around her, instead of a tight ponytail. Otherwise, I like how the image portrays an inner struggle without looking realistic.
